I have been surprisingly calm tonight, with these things I've been reading. I suppose that, living in Utah, I'm not aware of how sheltered, how supported I am.
I can't say the things I want to say without sounding un-Christian and going precisely against what I believe. Suffice it to say that there is a website that I stumbled across, which has a fair amount of anti-Mormon literature on it. Along with entirely fabricated quotes from Joseph Smith (from a fabricated book that wasn't even included in the bibliography at the end of the report), there were several statements made that filled me with a cold, clammy anger. There were several statements that made me laugh right out loud.
I let him believe he's right. Why can't he let Mormons alone? He tried to use fear, to scare people into his own church, this man that runs this website. I paraphrase: "If I am doing what I believe to be spiritually correct, and you as a Mormon are right, then I go to some spiritual paradise. If I am right and you are wrong, you go to hell."
What kind of "true" church tears down others, publically, like that? What kind of "true" church scares its believers into believing?
I'm so angry right now. I am not puzzled about my beliefs. I am puzzled about people preaching to one another about goodness, when they don't practice it themselves.
In the end, isn't it really all about goodness anyhow?
